Abstract

In the present work we consider a one-component magnetized plasma in which the interparticle interactions can be completely neglected which corresponds to the so-called Lorentz model. Starting from the equation of motion of an electron an expression for the tensor dielectric function of magnetized plasmas is obtained which turns simply the the Drude-Lorentz formula. It is shown that the Drude formula remains valid on accounting for both the polarization of the plasma medium and induced electric currents caused by the collective motion of electrons.
